Dental Implants Can Be Used in a Variety of Restoration Procedures

Posted .

When dental implants first came into regular use in the dental industry, they were primarily used to restore a single tooth that was extracted, or lost due to advanced tooth decay. As dental implant technology, has continued to evolve and grow in popularity, they can be used in multiple tooth restoration applications.

If you have lost two or three teeth in one area of your mouth, Dr. L.C. Chilimigras can use dental implants to mount a bridge. If you have dentures on your top, bottom or both parts of your mouth, dental implants can be used to create anchor points to secure your dentures in place.

The abutments of dental implants are actually made of titanium. This metal is known to be biologically safe. In time the titanium implant will fuse to bone structure of your jaw in a process known as osseointegration.

The implant itself is screwed directly into your jawbone and allowed to fuse with the bone itself. This creates a small post known as an abutment. Once the abutment has fused with your natural bone structure Dr. L.C. Chilimigras can then secure the crown, bridge or dental anchor points and hardware that is applicable to your situation.
