Our Lakeview Dental Care dental team wants your child to have the best dental experience possible so they can feel calm and comfortable in the dental chair as they get older. However, this won’t be possible without your help. So, to help your child remain free of dental anxiety, we encourage you to do the following things:
-When you come in for your checkups, bring your child with you. Doing so will help them get used to our office and will also help them get to know our friendly dental team.
-When talking about the dental office and treatments, avoid using negative words like “hurt,” “needle,” “pain,” “scary,” etc.
-At home, play “dentist” instead of “house” with your child. As you play, go through the motions of a dental checkup so your child becomes familiar with the process.
-Talk to your dentist, Dr. L.C. Chilimigras, and ask them how they explains treatments to children. The soft, comforting words will help you explain the treatments to your child without scaring them.
-When your child asks you questions, answer them honestly but do your best to be sensitive.
Doing these things will help your child have the best dental experience possible. To learn more about how to help your child enjoy visiting their dentist in Battle Creek, Michigan, please call our office at 269-964-7660 at your earliest convenience. We are happy to help you!
